i just got my pentel brush pen and I’m giving it a test drive… boy is it good! you can go thin and fat, clean and rough, slick and dry, whatever you want!

a pixelly house. i’m not too good at designing exteriors, and I have never worked with isometric grid before, but I decided to make that future game isometric, because it allows for much more exploration than 2D rpg.
I’ll deal with the interior of the house toworrow, to see how it works. Rather than making the interior a separate mini-map, like it happens in many rpgs, I’d like to make the walls and ceilling of the house disappear when the character goes in through the door. That way you could smoothly enter and exit buildings without disrupting the gameplay…
i’m busy practicing dull stuff, and my mind feels clogged, so I drew myself a mechsona. it’s name is aki, and it’s 15 cm tall.

another musical sketch - it’s relevant to the future game location-wise. While doing it I tried to remember some motifs from the first Prince of Persia game, and choose the orchestration that sounded ‘exotic’, but my MIDI software lacks instruments like tambura or sitra, and has a very small selection of drums ;( but I love it because it’s freeeeee
probably somewhere around october I’ll try and start working on a little solo game project. I’m pretty sure it will be a small, oldschool tactical rpg.
amongst many things that I have to learn up until then, composing soundtracks is probably the toughest, because I’ve never dealt with it before. Up until now I only had experience with actual, real-life instruments, so putting together notes in MIDI feels very awkward. sorry for this!
